Join Gulf County Republicans this month at the Port St. Joe Garden Club as we welcome guest speaker Dusty May. Dr. May is the chairman and spokesman for BAYSAVERS. BAYSAVERS is a group of individuals who care deeply about the environmental and economic future of our area - their primary focus is to raise community awareness regarding the need to save Apalachicola Bay, St. Joe Bay, and Lake Wimico. Our guest speaker is Lynda Bell, President of the Florida Right to Life and Chairman of the National Right to Life Committee. Lynda is passionate about protecting the unborn; believing that life begins at conception and ends with natural death. Joanna Bryan, Gulf County State Committee Woman, will provide an update from the Republican Party of Florida's Quarterly Meeting held May 17th and 18th in Sarasota. Port St. Joe - the Supervisor of Elections Office, 401 Long Ave.Wewahitchka - the Charles Whitehead Library, 314 N 2nd St. There is also time left to early vote Saturday, April 6th and Sunday, April 7th.

The Gulf County Republican Executive Committee will meet Monday, January 21, 2019 starting at 6:30 at the Port St. Joe Garden Club located at 216 8th Street. Mike Watkins, candidate in the upcoming special election to replace outgoing Halsey Beshears will join us. He will present his vision for District 7 and answer questions from the audience. Also, Gulf County Tax Assessor, Mitch Burke will present preliminary information regarding loss of tax revenue due to damage by Hurricane Michael and how it will potentially impact property owners. The Gulf Count Republican Executive Committee will hold its next meeting Monday, August 20, 2018, 6:30 p.m. at the Port St. Joe Garden Club, 216 8th Street. Please join us for presentations and discussion of topics of interest for the coming elections. The Committee will be discussing some of the proposed constitutional amendments during our monthly meetings. This month we will address proposed amendment 1: Increase Homestead Property Tax Exemption; proposed amendment 2: Permanent Cap on Non-homestead Parcel Assessment Increases; and proposed amendment5: Increase to Two-Thirds Vote Majority in Legislature to Increase Taxes. Our special guest will be Mitch Burke the Gulf County Property Appraiser. Mr. Burke will explain the proposed amendments pertaining to property assessments and exemptions. The Gulf County Republican Executive Committee will meet Monday, May 21, 2018 at 6:30 EDT at the Port St. Joe Garden Club, located at 216 8th Street. Aaron Little and Scott Hoffman are the invited guests. The runoff election between these candidates is June 12th for the City Commission Group 4 seat. Each candidate will be given an opportunity to speak and will be available for Q & A. This is non-partisan election making all registered voters in the City of Port St. Joe eligible to vote June 12.
